Chemo Day
Ace had his third chemo treatment. We left the house at 8:00 and finished the treatment around 3:00 PM. The Benedryl they administered made him sleep through most of the treatment. I entertained myself by making a bracelet. Everyone at the Cancer Center is nice and very efficient. Ace saw Dr. Tarontola today and they mostly talked baseball. He added another pill to his long list of medications. This one he takes on Monday and Thursday. His comment was that we are being careful. "It's easier to treat an infection before you get it than afterwards. We don't want you to get any infection." I think the new pill is some kind of antibiotic. Keeping track of the medicines he takes is a tremendous job. Ace starts taking 100mg prednisone the day of chemo and continues for the next 4 days. He feels okay when he is taking prednisone and feels "punk" the days when he doesn't take prednisone. So, the 6th, 7th and 8th days after chemo are his worse days. He had a flu shot yesterday and will have a Neulasta shot Monday.
