Election Day

No one who goes through chemo says, "It's not so bad."  I thought Ace might get through it with minimal effects, but like everyone else who undergoes chemotherapy, he is suffering the effects of chemo.  He is exhausted all the time, he doesn't want to eat and when he does eat, complains that the food tastes like metal.  He is not sleeping very well and often sleeps in the recliner.  My kind, gentle husband can be a bit cranky and impatient.  His speech and breathing is improving slowly.  We're pretty sure the chemo is doing the job it was designed for, but the side effects are awful.

Voting today was our goal.  It's an important election.  Control of the Senate is up for grabs.  I wish we had different choices in Iowa for the Senate. This will be an election where we try to choose the lesser of two evils.  Both candidates are proponents of legislation I do not support.  It was fun to go somewhere besides a hospital or doctor's office.  We had lunch at Red Lobster and Ace ate a balanced, high-protein lunch.  It was a good day.
